One gut-wrenching piece of news for UK theme park fans is that Harry Potter isn’t expected to be coming to Universal Studios United Kingdom when the park is scheduled to open in 2031.
This comes as a shock, given Universal parks throughout the world have their own Harry Potter attractions. For instance, all three parks in Orlando have their own HP attractions, while the Forbidden Journey motion-based dark ride is also present at the parks in Japan, China and in Hollywood.
The UK is seen to be a little different, though, and the reason for the UK to potentially not be getting a Harry Potter attraction is, oddly, in Watford.

According to a recent BBC report, an insider close to the Universal project claimed that Harry Potter wouldn’t be at Universal Studios United Kingdom because of ‘watertight exclusivity contracts’ that has made it difficult for Universal to get the rights to use Harry Potter in the UK.
Part of this is arguably down to the presence of the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Leavesden, Watford where there is already a large Harry Potter presence, and the fact that Warner Bros. has the rights to Harry Potter for UK attractions.
However, the insider went on to state that there could be room for Hogwarts in a potential park expansion alongside other notable omissions, such as Super Nintendo World – a feature in both Hollywood and in Florida, with Universal’s brand-new Epic Universe.
